This 5th February 2010, POLICE STATEMENT (05.02.10)
Today Mrs. Victoire Ingabire, president of UDF-INKINGI and flag bearer of the party for the upcoming presidential election in Rwanda, was invited to make a police statement concerning the 3rd February Kinyinya attack inside government premises.
14:00 -15:00: Kinyinya police station - Officer Alexander Minani recorded the statement but was interrupted by an incoming call he received. Then he went outside the interrogation room. When he came back, he requested Mrs. Victoire Ingabire’s assistant, who had been initially allowed to witness the whole interrogation process to get out of the office. He alleged that it was a mistake to accept a witness inside. It seemed that the police officer needed more consultations. Mrs. Ingabire went back home. 30 minutes later, the police officer reported to Mrs Ingabire over the telephone that she could come along with any witness of her choice.
Making a complete statement for the police on what happened Wednesday 3rd February will continue on Monday 08th February 2010, at 11.00 am.
Hopefully, the accurate account on the attack will help the police retract the spokesman's statement who, based on premature information, released as fact his views when only an investigation can determine what happened.
